The Chicago Infrastructure Trust (CIT), in coordination with the City of Chicago and the Department of Fleet and Facility Management (2FM), is pleased to lead the Chicago Solar-Ground Mount (CS-GM) Project procurement. The City of Chicago is launching the Chicago Solar initiative to promote and encourage clean renewable energy generation within the City limits and in response to the incentives now available through the State of Illinois Future Energy Jobs Act. The goal of the initiative is to demonstrate the viability of solar projects within Chicago and ensure that the expansion of the solar economy benefits Chicagoans of all backgrounds.
Through CS-GM, the City will catalyze a local clean energy economy by offering below market rate long-term leases on select parcels of underutilized vacant City land for the development of solar PV systems. The City has identified seven (7) City-owned sites, totaling approximately 30-acres, and is offering to act as an anchor tenant, purchasing a portion of the power generated. The procurement is structured to identify a developer, to Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate and Maintain new ground-mounted solar PV systems in a way that maximizes benefits to the City and its residents.
